Re: Arbeloa on his bike?
A confident player makes for a good player, but if we play him in a role where he's been shown wanting on numerous occasions then that confidence diminishes rapidly which is bad and we could see that!
Bilic obviously now finally agrees he's not a defender hence the last minute acquisition of Arbeloa, the player has said himself that he's not a RB!
He doesn't think like a defender and in turn gets caught out of position or tries to dribble the ball out of the box! & the opposition make runs in and about him that he doesn't track at times which again we've seen happen!!
We should leave this now and let him concentrate on what he is good at!!

Re: Arbeloa on his bike?
Nagel - Because I've seen him have good games there.

I thought we all wanted full backs bombing on now and getting involved?

I think this team is better balanced than one with Antonio anywhere else.

Adrian
Antonio - Reid - Ogbonna - Cresswell
Obiang - Noble - Lanzini
Ayew - Fletcher - Payet

Re: Arbeloa on his bike?
So i guess he must either have his eye on another RB or is gonna stick with the 3 CH's and play Fernandes at RWB!...if that's the case he needs another player who can back up as a RWB..Antonio however is not that player as any idiot can see!!
Antonio has no clue when it comes to defending, he doesn't spot the danger and runs made around & in behind him that's proven!..yes good offensively, yes he can track back and put a shift in and help but he can't be relied on as a defender!

Nagel 9:35 Tue Nov 15
Re: Arbeloa on his bike?
onemac, so why exactly do you think he's a good right back?

Seems to me that defensively his tackling is clumsy which has led to a few free kicks and penalties already.

Attacking wise his main strength is kicking the ball ahead of him and using his pace and power to get past the opposing player. Doing that from the right back position instead of higher up the field means that you're more likely to lose possession and be caught out of position, as has been seen when he's played right back.

Re: Arbeloa on his bike?
If he doesn't play right back I can't see him staying in the team long term.

Keep this to yourself, but he isn't actually very good.

Re: Arbeloa on his bike?
In fairness, I'm not sure you could say the players were 'chosen' as such.

LACAZETTE was our first choice, Bacca the second. Zaza, ayew and calleri were therefore by their very nature add ons. And so it's proved.

What I will say in the clubs defence is that finishing 6th or 7th is quite a tricky market. Theory is you should kick on and challenge for champions league but the players who'll get you there either want champions league or are already there, so you end up operating in a bit of a no man's land of a market. Especially when you genuinely believe that a cesspit will attract players, and it really doesn't.

Re: Arbeloa on his bike?
"Bilic mistakenly believed that Antonio could play at right back"

I don't think that's a mistake and I think he should play there.

Re: Arbeloa on his bike?
With the exception of Calleri, I don't think anyone could have expected the summer signings to have turned out as bad as they have. More of an issue is not the performance but the players that were chosen and whether they would have improved the first 11 anyway.

Ayew and Zaza were two big money deals for strikers who had collectively played about a dozen games as a lone striker. Bilic's reasoning for signing Ayew was that he could play other positions but that completely relied on the fitness of Carroll. I don't know whether Zaza was signed with similar reasoning in mind.

Bilic mistakenly believed that Antonio could play at right back, which meant that Tore was brought in to compete with Feghouli in the right wing spot. It also meant that when it was clear that Antonio couldn't fill that role we had to get a last minute replacement in the shape of Arbeloa, when the right back slot should have been the first to be filled in the summer.

Re: Arbeloa on his bike?
Playing up front alone does not mean you're a target man, or are expected to play as a target man.

But the point stands, the reason we signed these players is because we thought they would do well. It hasn't worked out and the good thing about Football is you get a chance to put things right.

Don't self harm.

EVERY PLAYER IN THE WORLD

That's your first problem, right there. Certain imbeciles believed it, and when to no one's surprise it didn't happen, we had to sign options d THROUGH z.

Re: Arbeloa on his bike?
8n Arbeloas case we needed another RB but left until the last minute so signed an ageing RB who was not wantedbby his club and surprise surprise it did not work out.
Also with Zaza he has never played upfront onhis own before yet was expected to come here and play as a target man. Surprise surprise it has not worked out ashe is not a target man.
I expect the same will happen with Atew if we plan on pkaying him on his own upfront.
Torre was not even needed and one look at him and watching him play for 5 mins tells you all you need to know.

Nordveit and Feghouli have yet to do anything as well and currently look like bad purchades too.

Re: Arbeloa on his bike?
Maybe they thought the signings would work out a bit better than they have?

Re: Arbeloa on his bike?
What was the point in signing him and the other loan signings?
3 loan signings who we want to offload after a few months. Just proves how utterly shit our summercwindow was. Absolute CLOWNS running the club.

Re: Arbeloa on his bike?
Don't understand this one at all. Three games and he has been written off. Sounds to me like Bilic is losing it and taking it out on the new additions. You can't convince me every summer signing was a dud. Underlying issues I feel.

Nothing to do with wording V, just another example of you trying to impress people with your 'research' and in depth 'knowledge' of the game. Look at me, I have a theory that Bilic was behind the Tore signing....la-de-fucking-dah. You nauseating cunt.

European watch smuggling gang made up of full backs angry that they don't paid as much as strikers
Joey O'Brien .... Arbeloa

There is no 'theory', it was a widely known fact you nauseating prick.

It's right there on the thread - read the exchange which was short and to the point before you dived in.

>>> ...you fucking imbecile.

I'm happy to discuss football on here. There's just no need for the nastiness.
